With the game just over a week from launch, we finally got gameplay trailers for three more characters. These were Alisa Bosconovitch, Ling Xiaoyu’s loyal pet Panda, and Zafina. But hold on folks, The surprises don’t end here. In addition to these trailers, we also saw the first character coming as DLC, Eddy Gordon
Who is Zafina?
Zafina is a character who was first introduced in Tekken 6, appeared in Tekken 7, and is set to return in Tekken 8. Her mission was to defend the tomb of Azazel and vanquish the demon, awakened by the conflict between G Corporation and Mishima Zaibatsu. Despite Jin Kazama defeating the demon, Zafina sensed its continued existence and consequently sealed it within herself
The trailer showed the effects of having Azazel partially sealed in her left arm. It seems like her fighting style is now being enhanced due to Azazel’s power shown by the trailer. The fighting style she uses is known as “Ancient Assassination Arts”. Her power seemingly goes out of control which brings about her special move in which she crushes her opponent in her grasp. To conclude, I can’t wait to see what kind of involvement she would have in the story of Tekken 8.
Eddy Gordo DLC
As Done in Tekken 7, Tekken 8 will also have Playable Character Passes. Eddy Gordon will be a part of the Year 1 pass and will be available in the spring of 2024. Not much was shown regarding his gameplay but we did get a sneak peek of his design.
Eddy Gordo has been a part of every Tekken game since Tekken 3. It looks like this time he will be appearing as a DLC unlike how he used to be part of the standard roster.
